MINE -- Guest author Ray Sharp says his boyhood dream was to travel to outer
space; but he questions whether anyone would want to travel to Mars, where
temperatures range from minus 80 in the summer to minus 200 in the winter. Sharp
says President Bush wants to send a manned mission to Mars by 2030 but hasn't
mentioned a return trip or long-range budgeting of the project, while the U.S.
sends $100 billion a year of Social Security and Medicare savings to Afghanistan and Iraq.

HANCOCK
-- Hancock City Councilwoman Mary Tuisku tells Hancock residents she has decided
to stay on the council and "continue to fight the good fight" to make
Hancock a better place to live. After stating her intended resignation at the
Dec. 17, 2003, City Council meeting, Tuisku announced on Jan. 7, 2004, that she
received calls and emails of support from residents and community leaders asking
her to stay. more
