Stabenow calls for security on nuclear waste shipments

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- United States Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), explains in
a July 23, 2002, Detroit News editorial both her vote against opening the Yucca Mountain, Nev., site for nuclear waste (A recent Senate vote approved the site) and her present concern for the security of nuclear shipments through Michigan and the Great Lakes.

HOUGHTON -- The Calumet Theatre's Club Indigo will present CITIZEN KANE at 7:15 p.m. Friday, July 19. Guest columnist Joe Kirkish notes in his review that this Orson Welles classic has been called "the greatest single movie ever made." Keweenaw Co-op chefs will create a "Hollywood New Wave" cuisine for the gourmet buffet at 6 p.m. For a reservation call the theatre at 337-2610. Planned Parenthood Express expands health services

HOUGHTON -- The Planned Parenthood Express health center located in downtown Houghton has recently expanded its
Copper Country services.
Adrienne Shipley, community outreach coordinator for the center,
says the new services -- available at reduced rates for women who qualify -- include gynecological exams and complete screenings for sexually transmitted infections.
