Keweenaw Krayons' greenhouse under construction

MOHAWK -- Keweenaw Krayons, based at the Ramblin' Rose Arts Center in Mohawk, will soon have a new permanent greenhouse, thanks to local youth, Keweenaw Academy students and adult volunteers.

Local youth and Keweenaw Academy students dug the holes earlier this week. After school hours, local youth and community volunteers have been building the frame and putting the structure together.

This greenhouse, funded by the Keweenaw Community Foundation and put up with volunteer help, will allow us to start seedlings as soon as the weather warms in the spring, even before the snow is gone.

Keweenaw Krayons, a non-profit arts organization, relies on generous community donations and volunteer help for the many activities it offers for both youth and adults in the Mohawk area.

More adult volunteers are needed for the greenhouse project during the week of Nov. 19, before Thanksgiving. If you would like to get involved come by any day after 3 p.m., or call 337-4706 if another time would work better.

Participate in our current fundraiser by ordering your Christmas Cards and 2002 Calendars from Keweenaw Krayons. We'll be glad to personalize them. You can check out a few of the many available works of art on our Web site:  www.KeweenawKrayons.com or call 337-4706.
