Senator Levin to visit MTU Winter Carnival

HOUGHTON -- Michigan's United States Senator Carl Levin will visit the campus of Michigan Technological University on Saturday, Feb. 12, to see first-hand the university's popular Winter Carnival.

Levin will tour campus with Michigan Tech President Glenn Mroz and several students to view the massive snow sculptures built by student organizations over the last month. Later Saturday, he will drop the puck to open the NCAA Division I hockey contest between the MTU Huskies and Minnesota State University-Mankato.

While in the area, Levin will visit with National Park Service rangers. He will also discuss economic development and research issues with officials from Michigan Tech, Finlandia University, the Copper Country Intermediate School District, the SmartZone, State Senator Mike Prusi and State Representative Rich Brown.

Levin has served in the U.S. Senate since 1978 and is the ranking Democrat on the Armed Services Committee. He also supports Michigan Tech's Seaman Mineral Museum and its efforts to move to the rebuilt and renovated structures at the Quincy Mine complex just north of Hancock.
