Senator Levin to visit MTU Winter Carnival
HOUGHTON -- Michigan's United States Senator Carl Levin will visit the campus of
Michigan Technological University on Saturday, Feb. 12, to see first-hand the
university's popular Winter Carnival.

Levin will tour campus with Michigan Tech President Glenn Mroz and
several students to view the massive snow sculptures built by student
organizations over the last month. Later Saturday, he will drop the
puck to open the NCAA Division I hockey contest between the MTU Huskies
and Minnesota State University-Mankato.
While in the area, Levin will visit with National Park Service rangers. He will also discuss economic development and research issues with officials from Michigan Tech, Finlandia University, the
Copper Country Intermediate School District, the SmartZone, State Senator Mike
Prusi and
State Representative Rich Brown.
Levin has served in the U.S. Senate since 1978 and is the ranking Democrat on the Armed Services Committee. He also supports Michigan
Tech's Seaman Mineral Museum and its efforts to move to the rebuilt and renovated structures at the Quincy Mine complex just north of Hancock.
