The Keweenaw Chain Drive again coincided with Father's Day, and several father-son and father-daughter teams entered the Father's Day Challenge.

Michael Young, 38, of Hancock, and daughter Amber Young, 16, combined their times in the 16-mile race to take third place in the Father's Day Challenge. Michael finished fifth in his age group with a time of 1:13:23, and Amber finished second in her age group with 1:41:46 -- a combined time of 2:55.

On Sunday Amber was busy as organizer of the Junior Chain Drive, while Michael worked as a volunteer for the kids' races after finishing fourth in his age group in the Time Trial with a time of 0:11:2.

"Amber put me to work," Michael said.

In fact, the Chain Drive is a real family activity for the Youngs. Mom Christine Young was co-director of the races, along with Lori Hauswirth.

Besides Michael and Amber Young, other participants in the Father's Day Challenge placed as follows:
16 mile,  17 and under:
1. Richard and Rick Paanenen from Munising -- 2:37
2. Douglas and Daniel LaBar from Marquette -- 2:53

16 mile, 18 and over:
1. Danny and Andrew Hill from Ishpeming -- 2:35
2. Chip and Vanessa Ransom from Houghton -- 2:38
3. Bob and Nate Grayson from Eau Claire/Duluth -- 2:50
