North Woods Conservancy to hold annual meeting Oct. 5

ALLOUEZ TOWNSHIP -- The North Woods Conservancy (NWC) will hold its annual public meeting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Allouez Township Community Building located off US 41 behind the Allouez Amoco. A social hour at 6 p.m. precedes the meeting.

NWC President John Griffith will summarize the activities of the past year, including the purchase of Seven Mile Point and NWC's help to Keweenaw County in obtaining a $147,000 grant toward the purchase of land at the mouth of the Gratiot River.

Guest speaker Jenni LeBlanc of The Conservation Fund will discuss the new Michigan Forest Legacy Program and the Great Lakes Revolving Loan Fund, of which she is the director.

NWC members and the general public are invited to attend and help the North Woods Conservancy celebrate its 10th anniversary protecting natural areas for the benefit of biodiversity, education and public access.
