NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

KEWEENAW COUNTY ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
HC-1, Box 607, County Courthouse
Eagle River, MI 49950

The Keweenaw county Zoning Board of Appeals will meet on January 3, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. at the County Courthouse in Eagle River, Michigan.

The Board will review a request from the Keweenaw County Zoning/Planning Commission for an interpretation of Section 4. RR - Resort Residential District, sub-section c. Accessory Uses. 1) Home occupation in a single family dwelling and under Definitions, page 87 of the Keweenaw County Zoning Ordinance. What Uses would be considered a Home Occupation? Is Home Occupation restricted to the actual dwelling unit or are other structures permitted to be utilized? 

Also, Are sewage systems which service a commercial enterprise an allowable use in a Resort Residential Zone, and if so, would they be required to obtain a Special Use Permit for operation of the facility?

Also, Under Section 11 - BOARD OF APPEALS AND ENFORCEMENT, sub-section 11.2.3. Meetings - Meeting shall be open to the public and shall be held at the call of the Chairman and at such other times as the Zoning Board of Appeals shall specify in its rules of procedure. When a meeting is held at the call of the Chairman, does this mean: the Chairman has the option of deciding if a hearing is necessary, or the Chairman just sets the date for the public hearing?

The Zoning Board of Appeals may or may not make a decision following the public hearing portion of the meeting. Written comments may be mailed to the address above.
