March 1 Walk for Peace calls for continued diplomacy

Posted 02/28/2003

HOUGHTON --
"Continued diplomacy as the path to peace in Iraq" will be the theme of the Walk for Peace on Saturday, Mar. 1, starting at noon from the Motherlode Coffeehouse in Houghton. Sponsored by the Copper Country Peace Alliance, the Walk is one way for local citizens to demonstrate their support for a non-violent, diplomatic solution to the conflict between the U.S. and Iraqi governments. For more information, call 483-3183.
Historian Howard Zinn says the support for war on Iraq is thin and the Bush administration knows it. "In fact, that is undoubtedly why it is in such a hurry; it wants to go to war before the support declines even further," Zinn writes.
