Peace Alliance to hold Walk for Peace Jan. 25

During their Jan. 18 Walk for Peace, CCPA members chat with Heikinpäivä visitors in Hancock.HOUGHTON -- The Copper Country Peace Alliance (CCPA) will hold its Walk for Peace Saturday, Jan. 25, starting at noon from the Motherlode in Houghton. The theme for this walk is "The message of peace is resonating across America and the world." On Jan. 18 CCPA members marched in solidarity with protests against war occurring in Washington, D.C., San Francisco and other major cities and small hamlets across the country and around the world. Allouez Township to host Cabin Fever Music Fest Saturday, Jan. 25

Ron Masters performs with Country Drifters at 2002 Cabin Fever Music Fest (Photo courtesy Michael "Web Daddy" Luusua)MOHAWK -- The Allouez Township Park Committee presents the 5th Annual Cabin Fever Music Fest from 2 p.m. through early evening Saturday, Jan. 25, at the American Legion Post #230 in Mohawk. Performing are Organized Chaos, c.a.r.p., Frostbitten Grass, Melissa Davis and other local groups. This fundraising event ($3 donation at the door) is the winter version of the July "Music In The Park" series. The concerts have been "instrumental" in raising several thousand dollars to purchase or refurbish playground equipment, grills, picnic tables and benches. In tune with the theme, "Show Your Patriotic Spirit," the best patriotic outfits will receive prizes. more from Organized Chaos Link to another Web site.

The theme for this walk is "A New Year and a strengthened resolve to work harder for peace." Everyone who supports a diplomatic, non-violent solution of the conflict with Iraq is invited to participate. For more information, call 483-3183.
