HOUGHTON -- Copper Country Habitat for Humanity (CCHFH) has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from Habitat for Humanity International for
outstanding dedication to building energy-efficient, healthy homes, and has been designated "An Energy Hero Affiliate."
CCHFH was also the recipient of a State of Michigan Five Star Home Grant in 2000 and used part of the grant to produce a video illustrating its unique
design and construction strategies. "Dollars and Sense: Building Energy Efficient Housing" premiers at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, at
Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, 527 Hancock Avenue in Hancock. Cider and baked goods will be provided.
Merle Kindred, CCHFH member, who has personally conducted tours of energy-efficient homes, encourages the public to attend "and bring young
people so they can also learn about homes designed in harmony with nature, working to reduce deadly pollution and conserving Earth's limited resources.
