Republic Youth Art Gallery and Kerredge Gallery, Community Arts Center in Hancock. Art by area high school, middle school, and elementary school students through March 29. The participating schools in this year’s exhibit are: Baraga Area Schools, B.R.I.D.G.E Alternative High School, Calumet High School, Washington Middle School, Calumet Elementary School, Chassell Township Schools, the CCISD Learning Center, Dollar Bay High School, E.B. Holman, Hancock Central High School, Hancock Elementary School, Houghton Elementary, Houghton Middle School, Houghton High School, Jeffers High School, Lake Linden High School, and L’Anse High School. Community Arts Center. 126 Quincy Street, Hancock. Tues.- Fri. 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sat. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. 482-2333.

“Peace, Tolerance and Diversity” will be on display at the Community Arts Center April 1-26 in the Kerredge Gallery. The community exhibition includes art in all media and is in its third year. The public is invited to a reception with the artists, to be held Thursday, April 10, from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. This exhibition is made possible with a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. The Community Arts Center is located at 126 Quincy Street in Hancock; for more information call the Arts Center at 482-2333.

Embarkation: Journeys of the Personal. Beginning Friday, March 28, with reception from 7 p.m. ­ 9 p.m. Omphale Gallery, 431 Fifth Street, Calumet. Through April, an exhibit of paintings and wood turnings by Rita Williams, Susan Sanders and John Williams. The gallery is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the reception. Keweenaw Krayons at the Ramblin' Rose Gallery in Mohawk offers After School Hours where youth (and parents if they'd like) can come do art, homework, or just visit with their friends: Mondays, 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with Carol Rose; Tuesdays, 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with Len Novak; Thursdays,  5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (after 4H) with Adria Simpson; Fridays 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Art with Audrey (Chamberlain).
