T-shirts in the Bridgefest parade. Junior Chain Drive entry fee is $5.

"A Story of
Keweenaw" -- a selection of black and
white drawings, pastel color paintings and sculpture by Calumet artist Rebecca
Koivu -- is at Hancock's Turquoise Gallery through the rest of the summer, with the exception of the first three weeks in July, when the Gallery will be closed temporarily. The Gallery's summer hours are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. The Turquoise Gallery is located in the E. L. Wright Building, just south of
Pat's IGA on U.S. 41. more

Announcements:
MOHAWK -- Keweenaw Krayons' “Art to Go” program continues with a free workshop, “Art Fun with Dried
Flowers,”to be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, at the Ramblin’ Rose Art Center in Mohawk. The workshop, facilitated by Diana
Malnar, is sponsored by the Children’s Trust Fund and is free and open to all ages. Supplies are furnished but participants are invited to bring special items and flowers to incorporate into their art
pieces. Examples are special stones, photos, ribbons, lace, buttons, beads, etc.
In addition to learning the art medium, participants will be able to take home instructions and supplies to continue working on their project with their family.
Funds are available to provide taxi rides to those wanting to attend the class but lacking transportation. The classes are open to all ages from pre-school through adult and any number of family members may attend. In order to have enough supplies on hand,

Keweenaw Krayons is accepting applications from artists interested in teaching a class or conducting a workshop for the Family Art Program.

KEWEENAW PENINSULA -- The Copper Country Homecoming and Old Settler's Ball
will take place June 27 through July 3 throughout Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon Counties and the Ojibwa Nation.You'll find food fairs, boat rides, horse rides and visits to historical points of interest throughout the area.
During the week, there will be thousands of historic photos, displays and booths of historic interest at the Dee Stadium on the waterfront in Houghton. There will also be computers stuffed with genealogical data.

HOUGHTON -- Michigan's Copper Country: History, People & Place, a two-day symposium examining the rich and varied history of
Michigan’s Copper Country, will be held July 1-2 to coincide with the Copper Country Homecoming and Old Settlers Ball. Sessions will be held on the campus of Michigan Technological University and various historic sites.
The conference intends to engage different types of historical researchers, from the local region and elsewhere, highlight their research and knowledge and encourage an interchange of ideas on the history, people and places that have shaped Michigan’s historic copper mining district.
