Sat. 11/16, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Ski Tigers Registration at the new Maasto Hiihto trail chalet. Ski swap from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Those with equipment to sell should arrive at 1:30 p.m. Ski Tigers introduces young people, ages 5 through 17, to the lifelong sport of cross-country skiing. The program stresses recreational, social and fitness opportunities in a family atmosphere. More experienced skiers also have the option to compete in area races. Three meetings at Keweenaw County Courthouse in Eagle River: 6 p.m.: Economic Development Committee meets. 7 p.m.: Keweenaw County Zoning/Planning Commission meets. 8 p.m.: Public Hearing to amend the County Zoning Ordinance to comply with open-space preservation requirements mandated by the State of Michigan.

Wed. 11/27. Last day of public comment period on application to Michigan Dept. of Environmental Quality for a bridge across the Gratiot River in Allouez Township. Tues. 11/26, 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. Reception for young one-man exhibit by John Leinonen, a 5th grade student at Calumet Elementary School. Republic Youth Art Gallery, Community Arts Center, Hancock. The exhibit, titled “Leinonen Art,” on display through November, includes portraits of the artist’s family. A larger-than-life-size pencil drawing depicting a miner was on display at the recent celebration for the Keweenaw National Historical Park. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
