*Theatre Announcement: Several area residents have combined forces to form a
theatrical troupe modeled on the very successful Guthrie Theater of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Michigan Tech's new Theatre Tech Sound Department head, Christopher Plummer, will direct the first production, Shakespeare's
Cymbeline, to be presented on June 15, 2003. The twelve main characters are of equal importance in the script and all are given
soliloquies.
An ambitious rehearsal schedule is planned; six weeks, four nights per week, and four hours per night. Participation requires concentration and dedication. High school students are welcome to audition, keeping in mind the extent of commitment the production demands.
Auditions for interested actors will be held on August 27, 28 and 29, 2002,
at Michigan Tech University's Walker Arts Building. If you are interested,
set up an audition appointment before August 25 by calling John Manno at 483-3736 or e-mailing him

*Arts Announcement: Jewelry Maker Martin Herrera will be teaching a Foundation Workshop
from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, August 27, 28 and 29 at the Ramblin' Rose Arts Center in Mohawk.
Foundation is the art of working with fire to change any metal from solid to liquid in order to change its form. The charge for the nine hour workshop is $50 (plus $10 for silver). This event is to celebrate and introduce the public to the newly expanded Ramblin' Rose Arts Center. Class size is limited and pre-registration is essential. Call 337-5806 or email

Arts Announcement: Calling all Beadworkers! Applications are available at the Community Arts Center in Hancock for the
2nd biennial Great Northern Beadwork exhibition. This year’s juror is Jo Wood from the north shore of Lake Superior near Grand Marais, Minnesota.
The deadline for entries is August 1, 2002. The exhibition will take place in the Community Arts Center’s Kerredge Gallery
September 3-28. There will be a weekend Bead Symposium on September
