Thurs. 11/01: Sixth Annual Native American Speakers' Forum, Memorial Union Ballroom. From 10:30 a.m. to noon Barb Nolan and Rosella Kinoshameg will present "Native Language." Lunch, from noon to 1 p.m., features flute music by Jessica Dakota, a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. Rose Red Elk Hardman, also known as is Wieka Luta Win, or
Red Feather Woman, will be featured from 1 to 2 p.m. Buffy Sainte-Marie will present
"Science through Native American Eyes" from 2 to 4 p.m. The forum is free and open to the public. For more information or a lunch reservation call Lori Sherman at 487-2920.

Sat. 11/3: The Third Annual Walt Bresette Memorial Walk/Run begins at 9 a.m. at the Michigan Tech Ski Trails. The walk/run honors the late environmental activist and writer
Walter Bresette , a member of the Red Cliff Lake Superior Band of Chippewa. Bresette was a visiting scholar at Michigan Tech and taught the course Indigenous Perspectives of the Environment. The three-mile event is open to all for a registration fee of $5, which includes a T-shirt. Shirts for nonparticipants are $10.
Sat. 11/3: The Sixth Annual Spirit of the Harvest Powwow begins at 1 p.m., at the MTU Gates Tennis Center, with the first of two grand entries featuring the Lac du Flambeau Color Guard from Wisconsin. The final grand entry begins at 6 p.m. For more information, contact

in door prizes, including rough and faceted diamonds, will be given away after the lecture.
A reception with refreshments will be held in the Seaman Mineral Museum, on the fifth floor of the

Locally, the events for World AIDS Day will take place at the Memorial Union Building and Fisher
Hall on the MTU campus from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as coordinated by the MTU AIDS Task
Force. Free literature and ribbons will be distributed. World AIDS Day
