About Our Authors
Born and raised in the Keweenaw Peninsula, Suzanne Miron spent much of her
childhood exploring Eagle River where her grandparents made their home. She
graduated from Dollar Bay High School in 1981 and returned to school to obtain
her nursing degree from Suomi College, graduating with honors in 1995. A
practicing Registered Nurse, much of her experience has been with women’s
health issues.
Suzanne’s interests are quite diverse and include writing, reading, cross
country and downhill skiing. The Porcupine Mountains are a family favorite.
“Do what you enjoy and enjoy what you do” is her motto. Suzanne is open
to experiences that will make her life richer and expand her mind.
She and her husband, Mark, reside near South Range with their five children.

MTU students help plan bridge restoration in Eagle River

EAGLE
RIVER -- Michigan Technological University’s Civil Engineering Senior Design
Group has been assisting Eagle River resident Jim Vivian III in planning
restoration of the Pratt Pony Bridge in Eagle River, near Lake Superior. The
historic bridge has been closed by the Keweenaw County Road Commission for the
past three years because of the dangerous decay of the concrete deck. more
Keweenaw County to hold public hearings on residential zoning issues

EAGLE
RIVER -- Definitions of "tourist homes" and "roadside
stands" in Resort Residential zoning districts will be the subject of a
public hearing by the Keweenaw County Zoning Board of Appeals at 6 p.m. on
Tuesday, Apr. 30, at the Courthouse in Eagle River. Two other public hearings on
residential zoning issues will also precede the 7 p.m. Zoning/Planning
Commission Meeting on Apr. 30. more

Justin Planasch to perform ethnic acoustic pop at Little Gem Theater

LAKE LINDEN -- Acoustic musician Justin Planasch, formerly of The Jeyds, has
returned to the Copper Country. He will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 23,
at the Little Gem Theatre in Lake Linden. Guest reporter Suzanne Miron
interviewed Justin at his March 22 performance at the Michigan House in Calumet.
She says Justin describes his music as an ethnic style intertwined with pop. more
